How much do lessons cost?
Lessons are $150/month for once-a-week lessons or $40 each if paid for individually. Paying monthly is a great deal, as you will occasionally get 5 lesson days in a month for less than the price of paying for four individually.
Do you have lesson horses or do I have to have my own horse?
We have seven great lesson horses, so we have horses for every level of rider. Our lesson horses are safe, happy in their work, and healthy. Each horse has a saddle that is fit just for them, and they even get acupuncture and chiropractic treatments when necessary to help them feel their best while doing their job.
Are you experienced?
Yes, of course! Jessica has had a successful riding lesson business in the Fort Collins area since 2003. Many great references are available.
How many students ride in each lesson?
Most lessons are private or semi-private (1 or 2 riders). Occasionally, a lesson will have a group of three riders, but only if all of the riders are at the same level and ride together cohesively.
What equipment do I need for my lessons?
Although we do have riding helmets available, we HIGHLY recommend that you have your own helmet to ensure that you are wearing a helmet that fits you correctly. Riding boots with a heel and a smooth sole are required. You can ride in jeans or breeches/jodphurs, but it’s recommended that you wear half chaps or chaps if you choose to ride in jeans.
What style of riding do you teach?
Most of our students choose to ride hunter/jumper, although we welcome riders of all disciplines. We teach a style of riding that helps riders become balanced and confident and learn to follow the motion of their horse. Our program is based on natural horsemanship and dressage principles which apply to riders and horses of any discipline. We believe that good riding is good riding, no matter what sort of saddle you sit in.
How old does my child have to be to start lessons?
Most kids are ready to start lessons at the age of 7, however we will teach 5 and 6yo students if the student is physically and emotionally mature and has a good attention span for their age. Young students will spend lots of time on the longe line, learning the basics in a safer manner.
Do you teach adults?
Yes! We love our adult riders! You’re never too old to learn how to ride...well, maybe 98 years old would be pushing it.
